MD Dept. of Natural Resources:
The Natural Heritage Program (NHP) is part of DNR’s Wildlife and Heritage Program. We work with wildlife and with that in mind we will be showcasing our 2026 State Fair Display. In the theme of MD 250, we will bring examples of which wildlife species were here 250 years ago until the present. We will have handouts that highlight extinct and extirpated species while explaining which of our current species have a similar niche. Come look at our display and grab some cards and pollinator seeds!

MD Dept. of Agriculture (MDA) :
Since 1972, the Maryland Department of Agriculture (MDA) has administered regulatory, consumer protection, educational and promotional programs that protect the environment, safeguard consumers and support the economic well-being of farmers, food and fiber processors, and agricultural businesses. MDA comprises three operating units: the Office of Marketing, Animal Industries and Consumer Services, which ensures the quality of Maryland farm products, safeguards animal industries from disease, promotes the production and consumption of Maryland agricultural products, and protects consumers by ensuring fairness in the marketplace; the Office of Plant Industries and Pest Management, which administers programs and enforces laws related to pests that threaten crops, forests and natural areas, pesticide use and disposal, mosquito control, and the quality of agricultural products, seeds and turf sold in Maryland; and the Office of Resource Conservation, which provides farmers with financial and technical assistance to implement conservation practices that support agricultural production while protecting natural resources and the environment.
